FoodStream LEARN, delivers hands-on nutrition, cooking, and gardening education to more than 1,000 children, alongside parents and caregivers, across New York City Public Schools. While fewer than 40% of NYC schools offer food literacy, our results show that joyful, experiential learning builds real curiosity around vegetables, legumes, and whole grains, helping students develop healthier habits at a critical stage of growth and learning.
To extend our impact beyond individual classrooms, FoodStream LEARN offers professional development workshops for teachers and community leaders. These collaborative sessions equip educators with practical, culturally responsive tools to bring nutrition, cooking, gardening, and sustainability education into schools across the city. On November 4, more than 300 educators joined our latest workshop, and their presence, engagement, and commitment were truly inspiring.
